NEW LISTING
A very tidy Contessa 28 lying in Antigua. Listed for sale on behalf of the Antigua Barbuda National Sailing Academy.
The Contessa 28 is known for being one of the most sea-kindly small yachts ever built. Designed by Doug Peterson and built by Jeremy Rogers in Lymington in the UK.
There is a well supported owners association and these yachts are equally at home racing around the cans on a weekend as being circumnavigated around the world single-handed. Alternatively she could be an inexpensive Caribbean liveaboard for less than the price of a new car.
This particular model was built in the UK in 1981 and was re-powered in 2004 with a Yanmar 2GM20 16 hp diesel engine. The standing rigging was replaced in 2015 and there is a recent set of cruising sails from Sanders.
The interior layout comprises accomodation for 4 with a spacious vee-berth in the bow, a comfortable saloon with a two burner propane stove and sink in the galley and a head with wc and wash basin. Aft of the saloon is a double pilot berth.
There is an electric windlass and the steering is by tiller.
Sailing instruments include a GPS, VHF radio and AIS.
Currently lying in Antigua on a slip in the water and ready to sail away. Photos taken October 2021.
All proceeds go to the Antigua Barbuda National Sailing Academy, a non for profit organisation.
