TAUA is a steel hulled offshore cruising yacht that can sail anywhere with her shallow draft, ICW mast clearance and super strong hull.
A one owner vessel designed, built, equipped and maintained to an extremely high standard.
A 42 ft steel cutter rigged centre cockpit sloop with a centreboard and fully retractable rudder allowing her to enter the shallowest anchorages with a draft of just 1.1m ( 3’ 8”) and to even be beached at low tide. With her 13mm thick hull plating she can also go into pack ice allowing her to sail in any latitiude.
With the centreboard down she draws 2.7m (9ft), points well into the wind and has very good stability with 14.5 tonnes (32,000 lbs) displacement
Built by the Dinieper shipyard at Baruerei in Brazil in 1992 to a design by Joubert- Nivelt in France to a very high specification for a very experienced owner for offshore cruising.
The hull and deck plating is to DIN 17100 and was metal sprayed inside and out from new for long lasting corrosion protection. Even now there is no evidence of any corrosion in the very dry bilges. Parts subject to mechanical wear are welded in AISI 316 L stainless steel.
With accomodation for 6 in two double cabins plus a single sea berth and a convertible berth in the saloon, together with a single heads with Raritan electric head, holding tank and shower.
The machinery comprises a very reliable and rugged MAN Diesel MWM 6 cylinder engine producing 114hp at a leisurely 1500rpm. Transmission is through a ZF hydraulic gearbox to a hermetically sealed shaft driving a large 23” fixed prop. There are no electronics and the entire installation is easily maintained.
With a fuel tank capacity of 700 litres the vessel has a good range under engine.
The water tank holds 400 litres plus there is a Village Marine 120 litre per hour watermaker powered by Seapower 5kVA 110v generator, belt driven by the engine.
On the stern arch are solar panels and a wind generator. The batteries are all AGM and monitored by a smart regulator. A Heart Interface Freedom 100W 110v invertor provides power to small items.
The rigging was completely overhauled in 2012 . The bridge clearance is approx 17m ( 57 ft) permitting the vessel to pass under the fixed bridges of the Intra Coastal Waterway.
There is a good selection of sails with a fully battened mainsail, furling genoa and jib, gennaker with sock and storm sail.
There is an electric windlass and ample ground tackle.
Raymarine electronics, including radar and autopilot. An Icom SSB with Pactor modem for sailmail plus a wifi booster and router.
In the galley is a Techimpex stainless gimballed 3 burner stove together with Firgoboat stainless fridge and freezer.
The vessel is sold with a comprehensive inventory of spares plus an AB 9 ft RIB with a Yamaha 15hp outboard.
Listed for sale for US$ 89,000. A bargain for such a well founded and equipped vessel.
