SERENITY is a Jeanneau 37 Gin Fizz built in 1979. A well proven offshore cruising boat with a deserved reputation for build strength and safety. Chosen by many offshore sailors including the world’s youngest circumnavigator (check out Laura Dekker’s blog).
This particular example recently underwent a major refit to prepare it for an Atlantic crossing and tropical cruising and is in sail-away condition.
The Perkins 4.108 55hp engine was totally rebuilt and has only done 300 hours since. The rebuild included a new crank, bearings, liners, pistons, valves, injectors and pumps, alternator, starter, control panel, mountings, and even the addition of a day tank into the fuel system.
The standing rigging has been replaced. The vessel has been rewired with a new main panel, batteries, inverter, LED lighting, solar panels and wind generator on a stern arch; re-plumbed with new seacocks and a new propane system; Coolmatic refrigeration; new electronics including radar, AIS and an oversized and very reliable autopilot; a full complement of offshore safety gear; good sails and plenty of ground tackle including an electric windlass.
The accomodation is very spacious for a boat of this age with two cabins and one head. There is a vee berth in the forward cabin, four convertible berths in the saloon and a double in the separate aft cabin.
A sturdy, fast and spacious offshore cruising yacht for the discerning sailor seeking a ready to sail vessel on a limited budget.
Lying in Antigua and listed for just US$ 39,000.
