About Us

Our offices are conveniently situated in historic Nelsons Dockyard overlooking English Harbour a UNESCO World heritage Site at the heart of the Windward and Leeward Islands:

Over the last 50 years English Harbour has become the centre of yachting in the Eastern Caribbean drawing sailors from all over the globe: Home to the Antigua Charter Yacht Show; The Superyacht Cup; The RORC Caribbean 600; Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta; Antigua Sailing Week; and more recently the North American and World Optimist Regatta’s, the Talisker Atlantic Rowing Challenge and in 2018 the inaugral Iconic Caribbean Powerboat Regatta.

English Harbour, encompassing Nelsons Dockyard and Falmouth Harbour is the premier destination in Antigua for visiting yachts, and yachtsmen, and has become the winter home of some of the worlds largest superyachts.

Caribbean Brokerage was established in Antigua in 2010 by Richard Watson who already had many years experience of brokering the sales of businesses and commercial property. As a  Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for 30 years he is accustomed to complying with the highest ethical and professional standards. Not to be forgotten when you are choosing a broker who you will entrust not only with your pride and joy but also to hold and distribute the proceeds of the sale.

We hold $500,000 of indemnity insurance. Richard has been continually insured for 30 years and has never had a claim brought against him.

With over 100 yachts sold to date Caribbean Brokerage is without doubt the most successful and longest established yacht brokerage currently active in Antigua.

When we offer sales advice and valuations they will be realistic expectations. Any broker can over value a boat to gain an instruction. When looking through other brokers listings look for multiple price reductions and ask yourself why.

We advertise extensively, not just on Yachtworld, and we have a substantial database of clients on our mailing list who have approached us over the years seeking the boat of their dreams.

Once we have found a buyer we conduct the sale on your behalf.  Antigua being a commonwealth island our documentation is based upon English law and follows guidelines issued by the British Marine Federation.

We are very conversant with checking titles and the process of re-registration, we have to be, almost every vessel we sell will be reflagged. Buyers and sellers are often from opposite sides of the world, and we have gained extensive experience and valuable contacts among all of the Red Ensign Registries, the USCG National Vessel Documentation Centre, and at Transport Canada.

You can be assured your boat is in good hands, with knowledge that can only come from experience.

Much is talked about commission rates, and is only relevant once a buyer is found.  If the yacht remains unsold, a low commission rate is of no significance.

Our commission rate is 10%,  in line with the industry norm,  for this we undertake to mount an effective sales campaign for your yacht and you will receive our best efforts.

If you are thinking of selling your boat please call Caribbean Brokerage first for an informal chat.
